FTPTool
FTPTool is a cut down FTP client designed to be intergrated into web sites to allow users to upload content without having to know how to use a FTP. It allows a site administrator to specify most of the parameters beforehand, so that the users do not have to worry about uploading files to the wrong directory, or setting a particular UNIX permission mask. In addition, the administrator can lock certain parameters so that the user cannot modify them, or leave them unlocked for advanced users.
Features:
- Cross-platform – works anywhere with a working installation of Java2 1.4 or later. Your website's users will be comfortable using FTPTool whether they use Windows, Apple, or Unix machines.
- Flexible
– behaviour is completely controlled by parameters supplied
by the site's administrator. You can control exactly which directories
and files the user uploads, or let the user choose for themselves at
runtime.
- User Proof – your users do not have to know anything about FTP, creating remote directories, or changing the Unix file permission bits – FTPTool can automate this, based on settings you supply. It will even resize pictures that are too large and create thumbnails without user intervention.
- Easily Deployed - either as a Java WebStart application or integrated with your web site as an Applet.
- Integrated – FTPTool can be easily integrated into the work flow of your site, with the ability to trigger additional server processing of files by automatically triggering an http request after the upload has completed.
- Lightweight – at about 100kb, FTPTool is a quick download and is usable immediately, without your users having to install a standalone FTP client.
