When I first set up this blog, I allowed user comments. This turned out to be a bad idea as my inbox was quickly filled with comment spam, so user comments have been disabled for a long time.
As an experiment I have enabled user registrations, so if you wish to leave a comment you can register yourself as a new user and log on. We will see if this cuts down on the amount of spam.

Yeah user registrations are a strange one in WordPress. Especially the one where you have to have an already approved comment before you can post a comment…..OOOO K.
Ahh, yes, the comment spam. I took a slightly different route to you, and that’s only because I’m too lazy to fix sendmail on my server. I went the plugin way – tried the Challenge plugin, which kinda screwed up by allowing the comment to be added (and counted) but never displaying it. Not even in the database! I still haven’t figured out how this happened. But Peter’s Custom Anti-Spam plugin rocks! Enabled it about a week ago – no spam as yet! Check it out http://www.theblog.ca/?p=21 and on my website in action: http://alweb.homeip.net/blog/
Hey, how come my comment didn’t show up?? Hmmm??
It didn’t show up because I have WordPress set up to hold comments from new users until I moderate them (and I didn’t notice the warning email that got sent to me when your comment was written). Now you have had a comment approved you are able to spam me to your heart’s content without the delay.
Hey Andrew – I just upgraded my WordPress setup and considered turning on comments too – so I’ll see how badly I get spammed!
