I have a Wii, in fact I have owned one for 2 months now. I like almost everything about; its small and quiet, unpretentious, and has great functionality. Although it is not as powerful as the other “next-gen” consoles (the Xbox360 and the soon-to-be-released-in-this-market PS3), I actually find this to be somewhat of a plus since I do not have the HiDef TV screen that is needed to take advantage of the more expensive competitors.

The Wii controller (or wiimote, if you prefer whimsey) is a work of design genius. Easy to hold in a variety of positions, the motion sensing works fantastically well. Even better is that the controller works as an accurate pointing device, this opens up a whole lot of gameplay options and makes things like the Wii web browser work very smoothly.

Unfortunately, despite lots of potential, there are not a lot of good games out for the Wii yet. I have Wii Sports (which comes with the machine and is excellent) and Ramond’s Rayman Raving Rabbits Rabbids, which is good if uneven. Excite Truck comes out in a weeks time, so I will probably grab that if only to see how well the controller works as a steering wheel.

For those wishing get a lot of Miis in their Mii parade, my Wii Code is:

5086 2637 9628 9138

Either leave a comment with your Wii code, or email it to me and I will add you to my address book. Lets get those Miis marching!

I attended the wedding of my friends Simon and Marcia on the weekend. The venue was perfect for such an event, the Indian Garden (one part of the larger Hamilton Gardens), and the weather held out as well. Later we retired to the reception at a local school hall and a great time was had by all. Through good planning, it was a long weekend in both Hamilton and Auckland, so most of us had an extra day to recover.

There are some photos of the event up in my photo gallery.

When I first set up this blog, I allowed user comments. This turned out to be a bad idea as my inbox was quickly filled with comment spam, so user comments have been disabled for a long time.

As an experiment I have enabled user registrations, so if you wish to leave a comment you can register yourself as a new user and log on. We will see if this cuts down on the amount of spam.

I have a new house! I was renting a small house in New Lynn for just over a year, and was getting plenty sick of it. It was convenient when I was working in the centre of Auckland, since it was near the train station, but it was an annoying long commute from Greenlane where I work now.
But enough about the old, in with the new. I am now the proud owner of a 3 bedroom Lockwood located in “Onehunga East” (spatially at least, temporally it is still situated about 1981). Actually it is not in Onehunga East, that’s just what a real estate agent will tell you. I am not sure why they bother, if you are going to pretend, dream big and call it Epson South.
I have added some pictures of the house to my gallery; excuse the mess.
I am all moved in now. After packing my life into a slightly depressingly small number of boxes, the movers came yesterday to transfer my stuff. I have managed to cover most of the floor space with half empty boxes already, and I have only opened about half of them. Of course, I neglected to label the boxes while I was filling so I have no idea what I will find when I open each one. I think I actually prefer it this way though; it’s like Christmas.

Well, it has finally come to this. I have (after years of struggle) succumbed to the surge of the Internet and created a blog. Like most blogs, it will be filled with badly spelled trivia. Its one saving grace is that I intend to use it mainly for RSS feed generation, to keep people I know up-to-date with other changes on my site automatically.
If you feel that you should be included in this group then feel free to subscribe to the RSS feed from the link at the bottom of the page.
