Snake
Introduction
Control the snake as it slithers through the lawn looking for plump, juicy moths to eat. The more moths eaten, the longer and faster the snake becomes but beware the walls, if the snake crashes into one (or itself) it will die. Once you have mastered the art of controlling the snake, show off your hard won skills in a multiplayer snake tournament, with up to 5 snakes dueling on screen for elbow room and moth eating privileges.
Features:
- Retro (but still cool) 8-bit graphics and sound.
- Support for up to 5 way multiplayer action.
- Full joystick support.
- Email friendly 220kB executable download.
System Requirements:
- Windows9x (95/98/ME) or Window2000/XP
- DirectX5.0
- Snake does not require a fancy 3D video card.
Installation:
Snake is distributed as a self contained executable and does not need to be installed. Simply double click the badly drawn icon to start playing. In the unlikely event that you want to uninstall this program, simply delete the snake.exe file - snake does not write any other files on your computer or mess with your registry.
More Information:
I wrote Snake because I was fed up with the lack of good small free games on the PC. I get really sick of downloading some 10MB installation program (over a modem) which installs huge runtime libraries through my system, only to find out that the game itself is stupid and no fun at all. At least with Snake, if you don't like it, you haven't wasted much of your valuable time and its easy to delete.
The following software packages were used in the creation of this project:
- Libpng 1.0.5 - Free library for reading Ping graphics files - it rocks!
- Zlib - Free compression library - it rocks!
- Promotion 4.0 - Excellent 8bit art program - it rocks too!
- UPX - Utility to compress executables - it really rocks!
- MicrosoftVisualC++ 6 and DirectX5 - they rock, but in their own special way.
